Canyoneering is a rapidly growing sport in Southern California that combines elements of hiking and climbing, with an emphasis on technical rope work for the rappels. This is a great step up for anyone who enjoys hiking in beautiful areas; canyoneering adds an exciting technical aspect to raise the adventure level beyond what any hike can provide, while still not requiring extensive technical training when done with a guide. Canyoneering can be done year-round, but each canyoneer should bring water (three liters), snacks, sunscreen, and a full wetsuit if seasonally applicable, along with other gear recommended by the guide for your specific route and conditions.
